These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Jakoda (“Caraban”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the Caraban browser extension and the caraban.app website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Who can use Caraban

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, to use the Service. By using Caraban, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you are able to enter into these Terms.

What Caraban does

Caraban lets you organize websites into curated link collections, sync them across your devices, and optionally publish collections so others can view or install them. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

Your account

  • You sign in with your email address using a one-time code. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure.
  • You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
  • Please provide accurate information and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your username

Your account has a public username (handle). It is shown next to every collection you publish, so choose one you are comfortable making public. Handles are 3 to 20 characters using lowercase letters, numbers, or underscores.

  • Do not impersonate another person, brand, or organization, or imply an affiliation you do not have.
  • Do not register handles in bulk, or hold them to resell, trade, or keep others from using them.
  • We reserve certain handles, for example names that suggest they belong to Caraban or its staff.

We may reclaim, rename, or release a handle that breaks these rules, infringes someone's rights, or belongs to an account that has been inactive for a long period. Where we can, we will contact you first.

Your content

The collections and links you create are your content, and you keep all rights to them. To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you.

When you choose to make a collection public, you additionally grant other users a license to view and install that collection through the Service. You can make a collection private again at any time, though copies already installed by others may remain with them.

You are responsible for the content you save and publish, and you confirm that you have the right to share it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
  • share links to malware, phishing, or content that is unlawful, harmful, hateful, or sexually exploitative of minors;
  • harass, deceive, or impersonate others;
  • disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • use automated means to scrape or extract data from the Service beyond what the features provide; or
  • misuse the public directory, for example with spam or misleading collections.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are harmful to other users or the Service. Where we can, we will tell you what we removed and why. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing contact@jakoda.app, and we will review the decision and reply.

Public collections and the Discover directory

Collections you publish are visible to others, and may appear in the Discover directory. You are solely responsible for what you make public. We do not endorse public collections and may remove any that violate these Terms. We record aggregate view and install counts for public collections, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Copyright and reporting content

If you believe a collection or link infringes your copyright or other rights, or breaks these Terms, email contact@jakoda.app with enough detail for us to act on it: the link to the collection, what the problem is, and, for a copyright claim, confirmation that you own the right or are authorized to act for the owner. We review reports, remove content that infringes rights or breaks these Terms, and may suspend accounts that repeatedly do so.

Third-party websites

Caraban stores and displays links to websites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of those websites. Visiting them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

Our intellectual property

The Caraban name, logo, software, and design are owned by Jakoda and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding except as needed to use the Service normally.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, bug reports, or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you and without owing you compensation. You are never required to send us feedback.

Service availability

Caraban is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis and is under active development. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may modify or discontinue features at any time.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You are responsible for maintaining your own copies of any content that matters to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jakoda will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or EUR 100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends, and we will handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
